E2E Challenge Update #4: Back in the 170s (whew!) and a week of walking mojo, plus how the dress fits TODAY....yep, some pics....

Today's weight: 179.4                                 Waist: 34.75

Last Update: 180.8                                     Waist: 34.75

Intitial weight: 183.0                                    Waist 35

A loss of 1.4 pounds for the week. Regaining lost ground. I have to lose nearly 2 pounds to be at my lowest weight that I reached last year, so I hope to be there again by my birthday next month.

I did feel a difference, physically. I feel myself up before I get out of bed (I sleep nekkid). I felt like my ribcage was "bonier" and the belly less dense. I figured the scale would show SOME progress.

This despite a second carby indulgence. I had the leftovers of the lentil soup and the rice for supper last night, with a small papaya and some cheese.

I did feel like I'd made "body progress", so I tried on the dress. It is 4 weeks into the challenge, a month since we got this gig going, so I figured, yeah, let's try on the challenge dress:

Here is how it fit 12/31/11:
Zipper goes up to waist only...

Zipper goes up to bra line...Progress!
You can see it's smoother in the hip area....

This is why I say, GET A DRESS and keep trying it on. The scale may crawl, but if you are eating right, moving consistently, and building muscle, the body changes. Bit by bit. Little by little, the good actions add up to change.

Fluids: great. I'm in the habit already. Thanks, Allan!

Calories: I hovered around 1400 most days. Had one roughly 1800 day. If I hadn't exercised more well, you can guess....

Exercise: exceeded goals. I walked 5 x and had 2 sessions with my Pilates trainer. Pleasantly sore muscles, even today.

Book: Added a new book to my reading list for the challenge, and I only dipped into it this week. THINK AND GROW THIN by Charles D'Angelo. Let's see what he adds to this party.

Support: I posted on (I think) all my buddy's blogs and I posted more than the minimum of 3x at challenger blogs. And, of course, I tried to be encouraging here on my blog.

Mood: pretty good. Energy level is better. I don't know if it was sleeping better, walking more, or upping my iodine and vitamin C intake. Whatever. I'm not at primo energy level, but I feel clearly improved. Blood tests will be done Tuesday, and I see the endo on Friday. I hope it's not a trying session. I wanna get whatever is in the way cleared so I can soar again....

I'll end this with my challenge quotes:

"The ability to discipline yourself to delay gratification in the short term in order to enjoy greater rewards in the long term is the indispensable prerequisite for success."
~Maxwell Maltz
"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
~Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)

Challengers: Get the updates in by end of day, Eastern time, Sunay. I recommend SOONER. Don't get distracted and forget. I encourage you to post a dress/outfit pic to show progress. Remember to add your guiding guote(s) and mention your book, even if it's just the title. Let's get cracking on the next month of doing good things for our bodies and minds. On we go...

You are almost there, Princess. You are doing so well! I wish I had your perseverance. I'm working on it.

You are right, the dress already looks nicer. Your hips have rounded down and your waist looks a lot smaller. You are so lucky to have a trainer. I would love something like that, but it's not in the budget right now. So I've got to kick my own ass as if I was the trainer!

Have a good week!

Not luck. We had to make a decision to make much less in retirement savings. It's like $7,500 a year to have a trainer, so that's money NOT going into savings. Hubby and I agreed that me getting fit was a priority..or there wouldn't BE a retirement, cause i'd be dead. I want to get to a place where I can just do classes and save money. But I started at 278 pounds with a host of health issues, and I needed to make sure I was guided and didn't get any injuries. Now, I need her to keep pushing me...but my goal is to save money, more than half, by using classes. :D In time...

I think it's so great to have an article of clothing to gauge your progress! I have a pair of jeans like that. If it feels tight, I know.... it's time to buckle down :)

I love the dress idea- I'm totally going to do that! I'm on day 4 (medifast- but that's not important, lol). I'm struggling. Like you I put up a blog to keep me accountable and to hopefully propel me to success. I've been on this roller-coaster for 11 years- and I want this to be the year that I do it for good! I'd love it if you would come check out my blog too... maybe even make a guest post? http://www.weightlossinsandiego.com - I'm doing weekly video weigh-ins (gasp!). I'm definately going to get a dress though!!!;-) Thanks! - Sandi

YEAH!!! Mir, back into the 170's, that's Awesome. I'm hoping before my birthday I'm there and better. Take care and keep up the great work. Love the idea of the dress. Should try on that swimming suit just to see if it's even possible.
Have a blessed week.

This made me laugh, because I sleep naked too, and I also "feel myself up" every morning. I feel like it's a good way to A)Get comfortable with my body and B) Realize the changes that are happening. Nice loss this week!

hehehehe
I do lymph massage every day.... does that count?
I "firmly" believe we don't touch our bodies enough....
I know we avoid it !

You inspired me to pull out my challenge clothing and try it all on again (with pics). Don't know which came first - you started feeling a little better - you got back out and moved, but the results are there. I don't have the knowledge and experience to know about the vitamin C/iodine thing. Did you ever write down, "If I feel like this..., I do this," anywhere? Glad this week was good for you!! Good thoughts for next week and your appointments!
